Terms of use

These terms describe the rules for using Seen City. By creating an account and using the app, you accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Who are we, and what is Seen City?

Seen City is published by Nina Marchand, sole proprietor, SIRET 528 919 640 00060, 121 rue Paul Lafargue, A201, 59000 Lille, France. Contact: seencity.app@gmail.com. The app lets you comment on a series or a film at a precise moment, and only see the comments from moments you have reached. It also includes social features: friends, an activity feed, reactions and notifications.

Your account

• You must be at least 15 years old.
• The information you provide must be accurate. Your username must not impersonate someone else or be offensive.
• An account is personal: one person, one account.
• Keep your password confidential. You remain responsible for what is done with your account. If you think it has been compromised, tell us.

How Seen City works

• Your progress is the one you set. The app hides comments located after the moment you choose. It cannot check what you have actually watched: it is up to you to set it honestly.
• Comments must be placed at the right moment. Post your comment at the moment it is about. Deliberately placing a reveal too early to spoil others' experience is forbidden.
• Episode lengths come from TMDB. When they are missing or incomplete, users can propose a correction, which remains subject to review.
• The spoiler corner is a free discussion space, open to people who have finished the episode, the season or the film (or marked it “seen”). You can talk about everything that has happened up to that point, including the ending, but not about what comes next. When you write in a corner older than your progress, you confirm that your message does not reveal anything about what comes next.
• Recommendations let you suggest a title to your friends: they receive a notification, with no free text. You can turn these notifications off in “My account”.
• We do our best to prevent spoilers, but we cannot rule them out entirely.

Content rules

You are responsible for what you post. The following content is forbidden:

• illegal content, or content that encourages committing an offense;
• hateful, discriminatory, abusive, harassing or threatening content;
• sexually explicit content, or content involving minors in any way;
• gratuitously violent content, or content that encourages self-harm or suicide;
• content that glorifies terrorism or crimes;
• content that reveals personal information about other people (address, phone number, identity…);
• content that infringes others' rights, notably copyright: no copying of script passages, and no links to pirated content;
• misleading, unsolicited advertising or repetitive content (spam).

We do not tolerate objectionable or abusive content.

Reporting, blocking, moderation

• You can report any comment or message from the app, stating the reason (misplaced spoiler, inappropriate content, other), and block a person: you will no longer see their comments. What you report disappears from your screen.
• Content reported by several different people is automatically hidden until we review it. We restore it if it complies with these terms.
• We review reports as quickly as we can. We may remove content, warn its author, suspend their account (for 1, 7 or 30 days) or ban it, notably in case of repeated or serious breaches of these terms. We tell you when one of your pieces of content is removed or when a sanction is taken against your account.
• If you think a measure is unjustified, write to us at seencity.app@gmail.com explaining the situation and we will review the decision.

Your content and our rights

Your comments remain yours. So that the service can work, you allow us, free of charge and for as long as your content is published, to host it and display it to other users in the app. You confirm that you have the right to publish what you post. When you delete a piece of content or your account, this permission ends.

The suggestions you send us from the app may be used freely to improve the service, without compensation.

The Seen City name, its logo and the app belong to the publisher. Titles, posters and the names of series and films belong to their respective owners.

TMDB

Information about series, films, seasons and episodes comes from TMDB. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Availability and changes to the service

Seen City is free for now. We may change it, interrupt it or add features, notably to maintain or improve it. We will do our best to keep it available, but we cannot guarantee that at all times.

Liability

Published content belongs to its authors, who are responsible for it. As a hosting provider, we are not required to check content in advance, but we act promptly to remove manifestly illegal content once it is reported to us. To the extent permitted by law, we cannot be held liable for indirect damage or for temporary unavailability of the service. This does not limit the rights the law gives you as a consumer.

Ending and suspension

You can delete your account at any time from “My account”. We may suspend, ban or delete an account that does not comply with these terms, as explained above.

If you download the app from the App Store

Apple is not a party to these terms. Apple is not responsible for the app, its content, its maintenance or its support; those matters are the publisher's, named above. Apple's App Store terms apply in addition.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence. In case of a dispute, please contact us first so we can look for an amicable solution. In line with the French Consumer Code, you may also use a consumer mediator free of charge: [TO COMPLETE: name and contact details of the consumer mediator]. Failing agreement, the competent courts are those determined by law.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms, for example if the service evolves. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version. If a change is important, we will tell you in the app before it applies.
